Waffles or waffles are a very rich option for breakfast, although not always the healthiest due to its high content of fat and cholesterol (butter and eggs) and sugars. This recipe for vegan waffles without sugar and low in fat that I share with RecetasGratis is one of the healthiest ways to prepare them, since it is a vegan recipe that does not contain eggs, dairy and sugar and also contains very little fat .
The texture of the eggless waffle is not as fluffy as traditional waffles , however they are just as rich – crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. As it does not have sugar, you can serve these light waffles both with sweet toppings (for example fresh fruit, a little maple syrup, etc.) and with salty toppings (for example sauteed vegetables, avocado, tomato, etc).
Ingredients to make vegan waffles:
- 2 cups of wheat flour (280 grams)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 dessert spoon of vanilla essence
- 1¾ cups of coconut milk with no added sugar
- To decorate:
- 1 kiwi
- 1 banana
- 4 strawberries
- 2 tablespoons cherry jam
- 1 pinch of hemp seeds
- 1 jet of agave syrup
How to make vegan waffles:
Step NO 1
In a bowl mix the wheat flour, salt and yeast . Add the liquid ingredients: the vanilla essence, the oil and the coconut milk. Mix the dough well until all the ingredients are well integrated.
Step No 2
Heat the waffle iron and brush it with a little oil. Pour in portions of the eggless waffle batter and cook the vegan waffles until lightly browned.
Tip: The batter makes 4-5 waffles.
Step NO 3
Cut the kiwi, strawberry and banana into slices. Serve the sugar-free, low-fat vegan waffles with the fruit, a teaspoon of cherry jam , a splash of agave syrup, and hemp seeds on top.
