Ingredients for making Red Chinese Sweet & Sour Chicken:
- 4 pieces of boneless chicken breasts
- 3 cloves of garlic, crushed
- 1 stick of celery, chopped
- 1 unit of chopped onion
- 1 unit of medium carrot cut into slices
- 2 units of tomatoes
- ¼ cup vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- 1 teaspoon ajinomoto (monosodium glutamate)
- 1 pinch of salt
- 2 chili peppers
Make Red Chinese Sweet & Sour Chicken:
Cut the chicken breasts into strips and season them with salt, ajinomoto, crushed garlic and soy sauce . We put a frying pan on the fire with a little oil and, when it is hot, we fry the breasts until golden brown. If you prefer, you can season the breasts with garlic paste instead of with the crushed garlic.
When they are golden brown, add the celery and carrot and sauté everything together . Add the onion, tomatoes and a couple of peppers and continue cooking the red Chinese sweet and sour chicken .
When the vegetables are soft, we dilute the brown sugar in the vinegar and add it to the chicken. Remove and cook the chicken breasts in sweet and sour sauce for 10 minutes, or until the meat absorbs the sweet and sour flavor provided by the sugar and vinegar mixture.
