Ingredients to make fried cheese balls:

  • 250 grams of Mozzarella Cheese
  • 250 grams of Gouda or Emmental Cheese
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup of corn flour (120 grams)
  • Oil for frying

How to make fried cheese balls:

Step NO 1

Gather all the ingredients on the worktable. To make these delicious fried balls it is important that you grate both cheeses on the finest side of the grater or if you can, buy them already grated directly.

Other cheeses that are also suitable for this recipe are blue cheeses such as roquefort or gorgonzola or cheeses such as gruyere.

Step NO 2

Beat the eggs in a large enough bowl and add the two types of cheese. Beat everything together to mix well.

To give consistency to this mixture, add cornmeal little by little. Knead until you get a malleable but not very compact dough. The dough should feel moist.

Step NO 3

Keep kneading and shape the cheese balls with your hands, making sure that they are all the same size, more or less a bite. Then, coat each piece with breadcrumbs , or with flour if you prefer and place them on a separate plate.

Step NO 4

Heat a deep frying pan with enough oil and when it is very hot, add the cheese balls to fry them until they are golden brown on all sides.

Remove to a plate with absorbent paper to remove excess oil and you’re done.

Tip: Remember to moderate the temperature of the oil so that it is always hot but not boiling so that the cheese balls do not burn before they are done.

Step NO 5

Balls of cheese fries are a great appetizer for parties, birthdays or family reunions. Our recommendation is to serve them accompanied by different sauces, such as mango chutney , an avocado mayonnaise or a thousand island pink sauce .
